Praying for Our Leaders

HeartCry Sunday Devotional - Day 1

Reading: 1 Timothy 2:1-4

As we navigate challenging political times, Paul's words to Timothy remind us of our primary duty as Christians: to pray for everyone, including those in authority. This isn't always easy, especially when we disagree with our leaders. But remember, Paul was urging believers to pray for leaders like Nero, who persecuted Christians. Today, reflect on how your prayer life aligns with this biblical mandate. Are you regularly lifting up leaders - both those you agree with and those you don't - to God? Consider how your prayers might shift if you truly believed that "the king's heart is like channeled water in the Lord's hand" (Proverbs 21:1). Ask God to give you a heart of compassion and intercession for all those in positions of power.
