The Facilities Manager works to turn the church’s vision into action by stewarding the church’s strengths and resources in a responsible, God-honoring way. The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the church’s facilities and grounds and is the primary point of contact for matters relating to the operation, maintenance and security of the facilities. The Facilities Manager will ensure the facilities are fully operational, safe, clean, and prepared for all activities at Northbrook Baptist Church. The Facilities Manager will oversee and perform maintenance/repairs for the church building, equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc.) and property, and/or act as a representative of Northbrook Baptist Church with outside contractors and inspectors for the maintenance/repair of the building, equipment and property. Skills desired include appropriate knowledge for maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment and the ability to follow direction as well as lead subordinates and a team of volunteers.

Requirements and Expectations:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
A passionate love of the gospel of Christ and a desire to serve in the local church
Ability to manage a volunteer team for special projects and events
Understanding of and alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the church
Must be flexible, adaptive, and creative in order to turn the ministry vision into action
Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in facility maintenance, construction, and repair activities
Strong attention to detail
Knowledge of security practices and protocol related to facility management and safety practices and applicable regulations
Must be computer literate and able to use office related software to create spreadsheets and other work-related documents
Capable of coordinating multiple tasks and adjusting to the changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and scheduling of a church
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and take initiative
Ability to recruit and train others as necessary
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cast Facility & Grounds
Primary point of contact for all building and facility projects
Maintain expenditures related to the building, facilities, and grounds repairs and maintenance in accordance with the approved budget
Manage and perform all work related to the maintenance and repair of facilities (including but not limited to building inspections, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, landscape, and waste management), including scheduling and coordinating work with outside contractors
Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work
Work with ministry team and necessary committees to report problems, solutions and costs associated with facility related projects
Provide input to development of the annual budget
Oversees housekeeping and groundskeeping staff and contractors
Work with and support ministry team to accomplish mission and vision of the church
Worship Services, Ministry Activities, and Events
Ensure all church facilities and grounds are well-maintained and ready for regularly scheduled and special services and events, which may require evening and weekend work
Ensure all facility related requests for an event are covered, which may require evening and weekend work
Provide facility support for special services, including special decor for church seasons and events
Safety, Security, and Risk Management
Work with appropriate government agencies to ensure that buildings are safe and meet current code requirements
Primary point of contact for first responders in an emergency, which may require evening and weekend work
Maintain security system and serve as primary point of contact with security contractors

Hours and Schedule
40 hours/week (includes Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, and during special events on campus); on call for emergencies (facility or security) 7 days/week
